As part of the Council of Europe’s language celebration day on Saturday 26th September, Conway celebrated the many different languages and cultures within the school on the Friday (25th September). Each year group explored a particular language and culture through a native story book from the chosen country. The children had the opportunity to discuss the language/s they speak at home and discuss similarities and differences between how the languages look and sound. The children then had the opportunity to listen to and join in with the cultural story, both in original text and English translations. Many activities were completed as part of the day to extend the children’s intercultural understanding, including; story retellings, drama and role play, character journey maps and art work.
