Emergency Planning and Business Continuity
The safety, welfare and wellbeing of our pupils, staff and wider school community are of paramount importance. Conway Primary School maintains comprehensive emergency response and business continuity plans to ensure that, in the event of a natural or man-made disaster, the school is able to respond swiftly, effectively and in a coordinated manner.
These procedures are designed to minimise risk, safeguard individuals, maintain clear communication and support the continuation of education wherever possible.
In the event of a significant incident, the school may:
- Conduct an immediate assessment of risks to pupils, staff, visitors and the wider school community.
- Activate emergency response procedures, including evacuation, lockdown or shelter arrangements where appropriate.
- Work closely with emergency services, the Royal Borough of Greenwich and other relevant agencies to ensure an effective and coordinated response.
- Communicate with parents and carers as quickly as practicable through established communication channels.
- Implement appropriate safeguarding measures to protect pupils and staff throughout the incident.
- Activate business continuity arrangements to minimise disruption to teaching, learning and essential school operations.
- Provide appropriate pastoral, emotional and wellbeing support for pupils, staff and families during and following the incident.
- Review the incident thoroughly to identify lessons learned and further strengthen the school's preparedness and resilience.
The school regularly reviews, updates and tests its emergency management and business continuity procedures to ensure that they remain effective and aligned with current guidance and best practice.
Through careful planning and a proactive approach to risk management, Conway Primary School is committed to ensuring the continued safety of all members of the school community and maintaining the highest standards of care during any emergency situation.
