At Conway Primary School, safeguarding children is our highest priority. The safety, welfare and wellbeing of every child are at the heart of every decision we make. We are committed to creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where all children can learn, develop and thrive.

Our Commitment to Safeguarding

The Safeguarding Team meets regularly to share information, discuss concerns, review cases and ensure that safeguarding practice remains effective, robust and responsive to the needs of our pupils.

All members of the Safeguarding Team have completed advanced safeguarding training appropriate to their role, which is refreshed annually. Team members also undertake additional specialist training in areas including:

  • Child Protection
  • Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)
  • Domestic Abuse
  • Online Safety
  • Early Help
  • Prevent and Radicalisation
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing

All staff receive regular safeguarding updates and annual child protection training to ensure they remain vigilant and confident in recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns.

External Support and Quality Assurance

As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding, Conway Primary School works closely with the Royal Borough of Greenwich Safeguarding Team and the Local Authority Safeguarding Lead Officer for Education.

This partnership provides:

  • Professional supervision and support for the Designated Safeguarding Lead, including oversight of child protection casework and records.
  • Specialist safeguarding training for staff and governors.
  • Independent audits of safeguarding procedures and child protection files.
  • Ongoing guidance, advice and challenge to ensure compliance with statutory safeguarding requirements and best practice.

Through this collaborative approach, we continually review and strengthen our safeguarding arrangements to ensure that every child receives the protection, support and care they need.

At Conway Primary School, safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and we are committed to working with pupils, families, staff, governors and external agencies to promote the welfare and wellbeing of all children.
