On Wednesday 13th November some of our year 6 children took part in an athletics competition. They competed against 5 other schools from the borough on the day; the competition is against 24 schools overall.
The competition was held at Shooters Hill Sixth Form College. They were greeted by the leader for the day and he went through the rules, agenda and modelled the different events they would compete in. The children competed is 5 field events: Chest push, standing long jump, standing triple jump, vertical jump and speed bounce and 5 track event: 1+1 relay, 2+2 relay, 6 lap paarlauf, Javelin and 4+1 lap relay.
During each event the children showed excellent teamwork and self-belief. They supported each other by cheering each other on as well as the other schools. They persevered when they were struggling and were determined to do their best all the way to the end. They had a great time, lots of fun, and really enjoyed competing against other schools!
At the end, we received a certificate for demonstrating excellent self-belief, which was only given to our school. Well done to all our children that were involved!
We will find out all the results when all 24 schools have competed, so check back to see how Conway did.
